Tuakau Dental Centre
Tuakau Dental Centre is the first dental centre in Tuakau. We provide Dental Care in Tuakau with an onsite dentist available. Please contact us to arrange this.
The practice is well equipped to handle the majority of the dental work, taking full advantage of the newest advances in technology within the field.
We are a family-focused dental practice that provides excellence in comprehensive dental care while managing systemic medical conditions, oral health, and associated pathology in each patient.
We endeavour to treat patients as a whole person rather than focusing on a single tooth. Our team makes all the efforts to create a comfortable, and relaxed environment to reduce apprehension in every patient experience.
Our Philosophy
We believe in the use of well-researched methods and materials, preventative dentistry and the finest technicians in the country for the long-term success of our treatment plans.
Our aim is that all the patients should be well informed of all reasonably possible treatment options, their associated advantages, disadvantages and potential complications, along with the time frame to complete the treatment and associated costs and proper follow-up care. In cases where the dental treatment is beyond our scope of management, we can facilitate referral to any alternative dental specialist in our area.
We constantly try to improve our patients' well-being and quality of life by continually educating our entire dental team. The greatest achievement for us as a team would be to see our patients able to chew efficiently, speak normally and smile confidently again.

Dr. Helen Julie Stehb
DENTIST
I was born in Stoke-on-Trent, England to parents who were both teachers and musicians. I lived in small villages until I immigrated to Invercargill with my Mother and Stepfather(a bricklayer) in the early 70’s.
While attending Southland Girls High School I played the piano and viola, playing in orchestras, chamber music groups and choirs.
Since I can remember I have loved making things with my hands. I grew up sewing and knitting clothes for myself. I collected animal teeth when I was very young and was babysat by the school dental nurse in her clinic while waiting for my mother to finish work.
All these things led me to take dentistry rather than medicine when I attended Otago University in the 80’s. I qualified in 1987 and since then have worked in Whangarei, Ruakaka, Auckland, Pukekohe and now Tuakau.
I moved into this area in 2004 with my 2nd husband, a born and raised Tuakau man David Gush. Once my adult children (Aidan and Briana) had “flown the coup” to live and work in Auckland we moved out to Port Waikato. We love it there, both the people and the natural beauty of the area.
I have a great interest in fitness, nutrition and holistic health. I run, kyak and work out with weights. In summer I boogie board the waves at the Port. The recent lockdowns have rekindled my interest in sewing and knitting.
My interests in dentistry include cosmetic work, general dentistry and amalgam removal. I really enjoy working with my patients helping them achieve their goals for a healthy, functional mouth and a beautiful smile.
My strengths are high quality restorations, attention to detail, patience and understanding. I’ve also been told that I explain things really well.
I love working here in Tuakau. The staff are amazing, warm and caring. They have welcomed me with open arms and I’m looking forward to becoming an integral part of this wonderful team.
